T O P I C R E V I E WMoonpawsI've been waiting to share the news about this until contracts were signed. Today paperwork was signed and shortly I will be talking possession of a fantastic shuttle experience. More to come later, but here are a few photos. This will be a great addition to the Kansas city area. Robert PearlmanVery nice, Vince! I think the lower left picture in DC is from its Space Day appearance several years ago, and if so, I toured it then, between breaks from our 8-hour Cyber SpaceDay webcast... Lunar rock nutIs this the one that was on eBay a few months ago?MoonpawsRobert, thanks. It's funny that you've been in it and I haven't (yet). Terry, yes it was listed on eBay about 6 weeks ago. space1Congratulations, Vince. It is indeed a fine exhibit. It seems I crossed paths with Robert when this was in DC, as I also toured the exhibit that day.JakeVery cool.....!Robert PearlmanThe Kansas City Star reports about the shuttle replica. The craft was recently acquired by space enthusiast Vince Lawrence, a securities investor and adviser who last year moved from California to Lee's Summit. A business associate asked him to give the shuttle its debut at the Fall Festival, the perfect venue for Lawrence, whose goal is to find captivating ways to teach about space travel and to help people grow spiritually.MoonpawsRobert, I got to hand it to you, nothing gets by your observation. It's been an exhausting weekend. We had a few incidents including a tire blow out, a malfunction with the amx system, a computer that died and filled the shuttle with a wonderful burnt smell, and a miscalculation in the size of the space where the shuttle will be stored. It's an indoor location in which we barely got it in and not sure how we're going to get it out. I think I'll take a vote and see how many would like to send it to space, how many would like to put an asterisk on it, or how many would like to put a collectSPACE logo on it. Not crazy about the interview as the sun was blaring in my face and the interviewer just put a microphone on me an said talk. It's easy to answer questions about the topic, but another thing to ramble on for a few minutes without being asked specific questions. Thank goodness it was edited. Oh well, I guess the important thing is that the word got out. sumrvlLike to communicate with Vince Lawrence (Moonpaws) about availability of shuttle for Young Eagles display next Aug 08.E2M Lem ManAwesome Vince - It reminds me of the one we have here for Downey that we will soon see a building built for! Can you tell us some more about this one's origins? Does it have an interior? That sort of thing...MoonpawsJim, it was designed by the Renaissance Center in Dickson Tennessee about 10 years ago. It has 18 seats, over 50 video monitors, headsets, buttons, alarms, etc. It was built at the Cosmosphere in Hutchinson Kansas. My future plans: We are going to renovate the shuttle interior and install a cockpit, flat screens, and a bunch of neat stuff. The computers will be swapped out and the new mission will be called, dream mission; a journey to the Moon and Mars. It will be more sophisticated than its present state. If anyone can recommend a good software platform for simulation, I would appreciate it.MoonpawsI'm not much of a web designer, but here's my new website.JakeNice work on your website...Retro RocketI was in Kansas interviewing with Max when they rolled that out, very cool. Although I did point out they had the flag on the wrong side of UNITED STATES on the port side of the shuttle. He laughed and told me that when they were painting their big 1/2 shuttle inside the Cosmosphere, it read the "UNTIED STATES".MoonpawsJon, sounds like a good name for a band. MoonpawsThis weekend I'm bringing my 1/2 scale replica shuttle to a huge local barbecue. There will be over 40,000 people in attendance.
